When he called the Hotel, he asked if a Rick Gassko was registered there, and he got thru. Jay O'Neill got the room, shouldn't he have asked for Jay?

Hmm, you make a good point! I might have to add that to the Movie Trivia page (under Movie Mistakes).
Here's a theory: Maybe O'Neill booked the room, but registered under Rick's name, so that any late-arriving party guests would check under Rick's name, since it was his party.
Maybe?
